How to Report a Scam Number on NigeriaPhoneBook
Reporting a scam number helps protect thousands of other Nigerians. It takes less than 2 minutes and can prevent countless victims. Here's how to do it.
Why Reporting Matters
Every scam report:
- Warns others who search the number
- Raises the number's reputation score
- Helps the community identify patterns
- Builds evidence for law enforcement
- Deters scammers who see their numbers getting flagged
Your report makes a real difference.

What Happens After You Report
Instant Publication
Your report goes live immediately. It's visible to anyone who searches the number.
Aggregation
Multiple reports on the same number are aggregated. The number's reputation score drops with each new report.
Community Awareness
The number appears in our scam numbers directory, warning others before they're targeted.
Moderation
Our team reviews reports regularly. Reports that are clearly false or malicious may be removed.
Dispute Process
If someone believes a report is false (e.g., a business mistakenly flagged), they can file a dispute. Disputes are reviewed case-by-case.
Tips for a Great Report
Do:
- Be specific about what happened
- Upload evidence if you have it
- Use the correct category
- Report as soon as possible while details are fresh
- Warn friends and family about the number
Don't:
- Report numbers out of personal dispute
- Exaggerate or make up details
- Report your ex or someone you're angry with
- Report multiple times with different accounts
Can I Report Anonymously?
You need to be logged in to report, but your name and email are not publicly displayed on the report. Other users see only:
- The report description
- The category
- The date
- A generic identifier
Reporting Limits
To prevent abuse, we limit reports to:
- 5 per IP address per day
- 1 per user per number per day
These limits are generous enough for legitimate reporters.
After Reporting
- Block the number on your phone
- Warn your family and friends especially elderly relatives
- Report to the EFCC if money was stolen
- Report to your bank if banking was involved
- Report to NCC for telecom-related scams
