First Registrars Nigeria Limited is an institution registered with the Security and Exchange Commissions (SEC) as a capital market operator to administer and maintain the register of members/shareholders and bond holders of quoted and unquoted companies. Before its incorporation as a limited company, it operated as a department within First Bank of Nigeria Plc offering Share Register Administration Services to Corporate Bodies and State Governments. It later became a fully owned subsidiary of the bank with the registered name - First Registrars Nigeria Limited. Consequently upon the resolution passed at the Court-Ordered-Meeting of the Bank in December 2012, First Bank divested its entire holdings in First Registrars and a couple of other subsidiaries in line with CBN directives leading to the re-positioning of First Registrars into a privately held company.
