Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited (AUMTCO) was established by the Transportation Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in 1984 as Abuja Service (ABS) and later registered on 13th November, 1989 as Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited, under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990.The company is charged with the responsibility of implementing the Government’s vision of affordable transport for all;and managing transport services across the Federal capital Territory. The service of the company is to ensure customer comfort, safety, affordability and satisfaction. These services include: Intra City Bus Services, Interstate Bus Services, Mobile Advertising and Publicity on Buses (Branding), Towing Van Services, Charter Services, Lease of Fuel Dumps, franchise to prospective operators, State of the art washing bays. The goals of the company are amongst others: To plan, develop and implement an organized Urban public transport system Show more in the FCT to provide effective, comfortable, safe, regular, efficient and affordable transport services. Implement the Abuja master plan with regards to urban transportation. Develop a sustainable means of funding urban public transportation services in the FCT. Evolve appropriate policy framework to subsidize urban public transportation in the FCT. Provide adequate transport infrastructure in the FCT with particular reference to urban public transportation.
